Moonroof vs. Sunroof: What's the Difference?

2019 Nissan Pathfinder with moonroof

The terms sunroof and moonroof are used so interchangeably that not everyone knows the difference. What sets them apart is that the sunroof is made of glass or metal installed in the roof of a car, truck or SUV. It slides open or pops up for more light and air to flow into the cabin. A moonroof is a clear or tinted glass that slides between the roof and headliner, and it’s often tilted for fresh air. Either way, both can offer a breath of fresh air and give your vehicle’s interior a more spacious feel on those Carrollton or Douglasville drives. Contact us to learn more.

What Are Panoramic Roof Systems?

Different types of sunroofs and moonroofs include pop-up, spoiler, solar, top-mount, removable, electronic, and electric. The most popular is the panoramic roof. You’ll find these offered on higher trim levels or as available options. Panoramic roof options will also be found standard on high-end luxury models. These types of roof options come with multiple panels that are either operable or fixed. This way the front and rear passengers can open their panel for extra air or sunlight.
